Memphis was once a hub for Northwest Airlines, but then Delta gobbled them up. And do not discount Tupelo - the birthplace of Elvis and a fine little dive called Blue Canoe with craft brews and good blues!

"Do not be tempted to fly into the Tupelo, MS airport because it’s only 10 miles closer to Oxford then Memphis, and a connecting flight (usually in Memphis) would be required." One would think someone running a book conference would know the difference between then and than. I'm hoping this is just an un-caught typo.

I suspect you may only be getting Manchester information because you may not be signed up to get Oxford updates -- if you are not signed up for a specific city, you will get everything. We haven't really sent out much about Oxford yet, except to announce that spaces are going fast.

I think I am registered for the Oxford, Mississippi weekend, but don't know for sure. I sent in my money and my credit card was charged. I signed up for the e-mail newsletter, but only get stuff for the Vermont weekend and haven't seen anything for the Oxford weekend. I tried to go into Goodreads, ended up signing up for Goodreads, (which I didn't want to do as I already belong to Librarything) and can't seem to post anything, plus I can't find the Booktopia group on Goodreads. Where do I find out if I am registered and how do I go about posting my comments to the group? I live close to Oxford and have visited there before and have some recommendations I would love to make but can't participate.

Oh, my gosh! So many bookish people in one place at one time. Everyone (from the bookstore to the inn keepers to the authors and the host and hostess) were warm, friendly, helpful and social. We could drop in or drop out according to the whims of our brains or our eyelids. I know I made friends that I want to see every year. I drove with a friend from Ohio to Vermont and when I told her Booktopia 2 would be taking place, despite having incredibly limited funds, we are saving to attend again. We are still enjoying the high from the last one and looking to a boost by the next one. Thanks so much Ann and Michael for making this all possible.

A spectacular spring weekend and a terrific location only added to what would have been a memorable three days whatever the setting. Surrounded by perceptive readers, I had the opportunity to meet several great authors with whom I was not familiar (Matthew Dicks is now one of my favorites), engage in exciting conversation and make many new friends. In addition, Ann & Michael were great hosts. They expended much effort in scheduling authors and events, finding the perfect location, arranging accomodations and working with the fabulous Northshire Bookstore to maximize the experience for their listeners. My advice - go, go, go! It will be an experience that will enrich your life.

If you love books, then you are going to love the Books on the Nightstand retreat! You will be surrounded by people just like you! If you are on the fence about going, just do it, I promise you won't regret it! There is something for every book lover, Ann and Michael are the BEST hosts, and it will be a weekend you will remember for many years to come. I don't have a lot of "bookie" friends at home and for me, this was like old home week, just talking the whole time about BOOKS! It was a truly joyful weekend!

I've always been a "quiet" reader, as very few people I knew read as diversely or as widely as I. When I discovered Books on the Nightstand my world opened up, and when I attended the Readers' Retreat I found it blissfully challenging to keep up with the discussions of books others loved as much as I did and of the books I must add to my never ending TBR pile. A weekend meeting many like-minded souls -- it was paradise on earth.

Another update: as of 10/3, there are 15 spots open for Manchester, and I've heard that the Inn at Manchester is full (but verify with them, as they may have had a cancellation).

Registered for Vermont! Wanted to attend last year's retreat and couldn't wait for the opportunity to attend in 2012! Have never been to Vermont and can't wait to check out Northshire Books. Hope Northshire Books can ship my anticipated purchases made during the retreat; I'm strictly a printed book reader!

Very exciting! So glad Oxford is one of the options. Square Books is a dream, and the town is charming. And Memphis---well, there's tons to do there too. Great choice, Michael and Ann!
